Burton on Trent Electrical Engineers, Albion Power

Albion Power was established in 1983 originally as an electrical contracting company called Neal Electrical by Dana Neal.

In 1984 another company was formed called Electric Motors and Repairs that worked from the same Burton on Trent High Street premises that we still occupy, and Keith Poxon became a partner in this new venture an electric motor repair company. After some years, both firms became one and began trading as Albion Power.

We continued with the activities of both previous firms rewinding and repairing electric motors, selling new electric motors and drive units, manufacturing bespoke transformers, building control panels and industrial electrical installations, particularly specialised machine wiring including automated welding machines and paint booths.

We outgrew our existing premises again, purchased next door, out grew those premises too and bought next door again! We then bought the whole of the yard in which we trade from, Calor Gas and Mind (a mental illness charity) renting the parts from us that we did not require.

We ceased manufacturing transformers some years ago in view of the intense competition from mass produced Far Eastern products, and diversified to meet a growing demand for mechanical repairs on industrial gearboxes and pumps. We have invested in pulling and lifting equipment and are now able to undertake repair work on electrical machines of up to 110 kilowatts, and industrial gearboxes weighing in excess of a tonne.

We are also members of the AEMT (the Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades).

We undertake electrical breakdown work for local factories that do not employ their own skilled maintenance staff.

Now the largest electrical repair workshop in a twenty-mile radius of Burton on Trent, many local factories entrust us with their electrical installations and repairs.
